BC40 liquid is a new generation of modified polycarboxylated sodium salt superplasticizer admixture formulated to produce self-compacting (S.C.C.) concrete. BC40 superplasticizer liquid is specifically designed for use in precast and ready mix concrete which provides high workability and improved fluidity. The high flowing concrete maintains excellent workability, without aggregate segregation and occasionally may require minimal vibration.
Greater water reduction (up to 30%), lower water cement ratios, high early strengths, improved density of surfaces, reduced bleed water and shrinkage, improved flow (self-leveling), lower dosage rates, reduction in vibration and manufacturing noise levels.

BC40 superplasticizer liquid allows extended workability for approximately 1-2 hours at 68¼ F (20¼ C). The duration of workability depends on temperature, brand and type of cement, aggregate type and gradation, method of mixing. BC40 is compatible with most mineral and chemical components common to portland cement, calcium alumina cement, and calcium sulfate (gypsum). BC40 meets ASTM C 494 Type A and F requirements. Properly balanced mixes are required to achieve flowable concrete without segregation.
BC40 provides small percentages of air entrainment and needs to be supplemented with an additional A.E.A. (air entraining agent). BC A-12 is a recommended air entraining agent to produce additional air. Refer to the W/C ratio below for addition of A.E.A for obtaining 6-8% air in Type I concrete mixes:
| W/C RATIO | A.E.A. DOSAGE RECOMMENDED |
|---|---|
| 0.45 OR HIGHER | ±1/4 FL. OUNCE / 100 LB. CEMENT |
| 0.38 | 1-2 FL. OUNCES / 100 LB. CEMENT |
| 0.32 | 3-4 FL. OUNCES /100 LB. CEMENT |
BC40 dosage is 2-6 ounces per 100 lbs. of cementious material (130-390 ml/l00 kg).
55 gallon (208 L) drums, 250 gallon (943 L) containers.
